Lake Ridge, close to everything!
Less
than one mile from Fort Lauderdale Beach, Lake Ridge is only eighteen
blocks long, three blocks deep and located between Sunrise Boulevard
from Flagler Drive to U.S. 1, and N.E. 13th Street from Flagler
Drive to U.S. 1.
The community had its beginnings in the ‘50s
when a portion of the area was a penal farm!
Most of the cement block- houses, built in
the ‘50s, are two and three-bedroom/ one- bath residences.
“Since we are less than one mile from the beach and downtown
Fort Lauderdale, and near Interstate 95, the area became desirable
for buyers,” Rixon Rafter, president of the Lake Ridge Civic
Association explains.
Buyers discovered this gem when many original
owners were selling. Some homes have kept original floor-plans,
others made changes such as adding another bathroom, etc.
These are charming houses, many of which are
on a fresh water, land locked lake where gasoline engines are
not permitted.
Developers are building townhouses, in place of single- family
homes that is attracting families with children.

A close-by shopping mall has several restaurants,
as now ski shop and retail as well as a fire station. A small
live performance theatre on Flagler Drive accommodates an audience
of 50. An elementary and a middle school are within the neighborhood.
