Las Olas, Live and Shop!
Las
Olas Isles has a musical ring, as do the name of the islands that
compose this multiple waterfront property area where all homes
are waterfront properties; Isle of Palms, Royal Plaza Drive, Coral
way, San Marco, Lido, Coconut Isles, Bontona Ave, and the combination
of Isle of Capri and Mola.
Many homes date back to the ‘30s. They
have been updated, yet maintain their early character, according
to Jeanne Glenn, Communication Director for Las Olas Isles Homeowner’s
Association. “We have close proximity to the beaches as
well as wonderful Las Olas Boulevard’s shopping area, the
Broward Theatre of Performing Arts and the Fort Lauderdale Museum
of Art.”
Although there are some multi dwellings and
low rise condominiums along Las Olas Boulevard, the community
maintains a single-family dwelling profile.
The Homeowner’s Association consists
of 300 member households. The president of the association believes
the addition of a security patrol is an important factor in Las
Olas Isles steps to insure homeowners’ security.
The Association has been diligently fighting
to get wires placed underground. Congressman Clay Shaw was instrumental
in getting, “Florida Power & Light to bury big, ugly
concrete poles that were on Las Olas Boulevard, placed underground.
It really has improved the whole look of Las Olas Boulevard,”
Jeanne Glenn said.
