Poinsettia Heights, The Friendly Neighborhood...
“It’s
a friendly neighborhood,” Michael Vonder Meulen, president
of Poinsettia Heights Civic Association says of the neighborhood.
Numerous homes built in the late ‘40s
and early ‘50s are approximately 1,000 to 1,700 square feet.
Newer, recently built homes have as much as 3,000 square feet
under air. Many older homes have been updated with new kitchens,
swimming pools and other updates, according to Mr. Vonder Meulen.
“Poinsettia Heights is a slice of Americana,” is how
he describes his neighbors and the neighborhood.
Some of the mid 20th century built homes have
streamlined architecture, some have Art Deco touches. Newer homes
embrace the Georgian style, with hip roofs, porches and balconies.
Town homes have also become part of the landscape.
All homeowners take pride in their front yard gardens. The neighborhood
is continually active in improving entryways and surrounding areas
into the neighborhood. It’s a neighborhood where neighbors
look out for each other.

Close to a wonderful French bakery, a variety
of restaurants, two groceries, and two A rated schools, an elementary
and middle school, as well as several houses of worship. It is
safe and friendly, convenient to downtown and Fort Lauderdale
Beach and great restaurants and shops. All these plusses make
Poinsettia Heights a sought after neighborhood in which to live.
